Winter fuel payments

If you were born on or before 5 April 1955 you could get between £100 and £300 tax-free to help pay your heating bills.
The amount of money you receive depends on your circumstances during the qualifying week.

The qualifying week for 2020/21 was 21 September 2020 to 27 September 2020. If you have an entitlement you will be notified by Social Security Scotland as to how much money you’ll get and an estimated payment date. Most payments are made between November and December.

If you get any other benefit you will get your winter fuel payment at the same time as your regular payments.

If the money is not paid into your account by 13 January 2021, call the office that pays your benefits – their details are on any letters they sent you.

For further information please view Home Energy Scotland website or call them on 0808 808 2282 or visit the Governments website.
