Cold weather payments

Cold weather payments can help people who receive certain benefits with additional heating costs during the winter period.

The 2020/21 scheme runs from 1 November 2020 to 31 March 2021. A payment of £25 will be paid for each seven-day period when your local temperature is either recorded as, or forecast to be, an average of zero degrees Celsius or below, between 1 November 2020 and 31 March 2021.

You don’t need to apply. If you are eligible to receive a cold weather payment, you’ll be paid it automatically into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments.
